    Although the representative I spoke

Although the representative I spoke with was friendly, waiting for months for this appointment ended up being pointless since they couldn't assist me in transferring funds from a rollover IRA (from my old employer's 401k) to my current employer's 401k. I opted for Capitalize to simplify the process, but it turned out to be a complete waist of my time.

I thought upgrading to the premium service would be a great move. At first, I was impressed—getting a real person on the line was fast. But things quickly went south. They promised to help transfer my Vanguard 401k to my TSP, and I was assured a notarized form would be sent my way, with all costs covered. Two reps confirmed this, but I ended up waiting endlessly. No form ever arrived, and my follow-up emails and calls vanished into a black hole. It felt like they just gave up on me. Eventually, I had to dispute the charge for the premium service because they didn’t deliver on their promises. It was pretty disappointing, to say the least.

Just went through transferring my 401k to an IRA and thought I'd share my experience. The process was smooth, but there was a hiccup with a promotional match offer. Turns out, to get the match, the transfer had to be done a certain way, which I wasn’t told about. I asked the rep if the 5% match applied, and they didn't mention that transferring by check would disqualify me. Now, I’m stuck with extra taxes and no match to help offset them. While the overall service was good and my funds transferred without issues, I wish the rep had been clearer about the promotion details. Would’ve saved me some trouble!

I tried this company to help with my 401k rollover. I sent my check to the new bank through them. Someone cashed the check, but no one knows who. Neither bank can find it. Capitalize hasn't replied to my emails or tried to solve this. My savings might be gone. Don't use this company; they might be a scam.

    I tried using Capitalize

I tried using Capitalize to move my 401k accounts, and it was a bit of a mess. Took a week just to get a 20-minute appointment. During that week, I kept getting bombarded with emails and texts reminding me about the appointment. When the appointment finally happened, I felt like it was a waste of time. I could've done everything myself without their help. They did promise to send me an envelope to securely send my rollover checks, but that was the only upside. I got my rollover checks a week later, but nothing from Capitalize. Emailed them twice, once to the person leading my appointment, Omari Millsap, and once to customer service. No response at all. Six days later, an envelope arrived, but it was too late since I had already sent the checks myself. Honestly, their customer service was really disappointing. If you're thinking about using Capitalize, you might be better off handling it on your own.

    Everything was smooth

At first, everything was smooth and straightforward. But after I finished the rollover call, it was like everyone disappeared. I tried sending emails, chatting online, and making phone calls. Nothing worked. The only way to get in touch with someone was to schedule another rollover, which seems pretty ridiculous. If you don’t need any follow-up, Capitalize would be awesome. But if you have questions or need help afterward, good luck. They really need to work on their communication because it’s frustrating trying to get any answers. Overall, the initial process is good, but the lack of support after is a big letdown.

I had to wait for over six weeks

So, I had to wait for over six weeks for my funds to transfer to my new IRA. Capitalize kept saying the delay was normal, which felt like a brush-off. Then, they made me call my old 401k provider to stop the check and get a new one issued. Now, the new check has to be mailed to me instead of directly to the new IRA account provider because of some guidelines. It was just so much extra work for me, having to micromanage and keep track of everything. Capitalize didn't really help at all; they just made the whole process slower and more complicated. They were basically just an inefficient middleman.

I've been trying to get my rollover process sorted with this company, but it's been a nightmare. They don’t even have a customer service phone number, so I had to email them. I've sent five emails over two months and haven’t gotten a single response. It's like shouting into a void. I just want to finish this process, but it’s impossible when they won’t communicate. A company that ignores its customers like this? Definitely not one I'd recommend. If you value your time and sanity, steer clear. It’s frustrating when you can’t get the help you need, especially for something important like this.

I’ve been stuck trying to get my money from this service, and it’s been a bit of a nightmare. My rollover has been in limbo for over a week, and I can’t seem to get any help. They don’t have a phone number or live chat that actually works. I tried reaching out through their "live chat" option, but it’s like shouting into the void—no response, not even a confirmation email. It’s frustrating because I just want to transfer my funds to Webull and move on, but there's no way to get in touch with anyone who can help. It feels like I’m being ignored, and it’s really disappointing.

    Using Capitalize was a total

Using Capitalize was a total joke. I shared my personal info, and then some dude from their team calls me, sounding like he's chilling in his mom's basement with Netflix on. We did a 3-way call with Schwab, and even the Schwab rep seemed irritated. They gave me some instructions, but that was it. No follow-up at all. Months went by, and when I checked my Capitalize account, it just said, "This account couldn’t be rolled over." No reason why, even though I did everything they said. It felt like a scam, like they just wanted my data. Don't waste your time with these guys.

    I recently tried to roll

I recently tried to roll over my 401K using SoFi and they had me go through Capitalize. What a nightmare! It took ages for them to respond to my questions, and when they did, the answers weren't even helpful. They set up a call to discuss the rollover, but nobody showed up. The worst part? They gave me the wrong address for mailing the check. Instead of SoFi, they gave me Robinhood's address! If I hadn't caught that mistake, I could have lost my entire 401K. Eventually, I decided to deal directly with SoFi. One phone call and it was done, no hassle. What a difference.

    I recently had to forward

I recently had to forward a check to rollover my 401k and the company gave me a USPS Ground Advantage label, telling me to use a priority envelope. This was against USPS rules, which left me having to buy my own packaging. The whole process was super frustrating. Plus, the customer service chat took hours to respond. They didn't seem to care that I was out of the market during this long, drawn-out rollover period. It felt like they had no idea what they were doing, and I was left dealing with the mess. Definitely not a smooth experience.

    I was a pretty frustrating

I had a pretty frustrating experience with this company. First, they had me on a 3-way call where I still had to do all the talking and waiting. After that, they promised to send me an envelope to mail my check for deposit. It took an unbelievable 22 days to arrive. When I finally got it, they casually mentioned I could have just done a mobile deposit from the start. Really? What’s even the point of their service if they just make you jump through hoops for no reason? It felt like a huge waste of time.

I’ve been waiting way too long for Capitalize to send my rollover forms. It's been over a month since I signed them, but they haven’t sent them to my current retirement account company. I keep emailing and calling their customer service every week, but all I get is the same line about their dedicated team working on it. Seriously, how can this take so long? Feels like they handed the paperwork to a monkey trying to figure out a fax machine.

Key Details:

  • Location: The company is headquartered in New York, United States.
  • Founders: Hicapitalize.com was founded by Gaurav Sharma, Chris Phillips.
  • Foundation Date: The company was established in the year 2019.

Launched in 2019 by Gaurav Sharma and Chris Phillips, Hicapitalize.com began its journey to guarantee that every American can retire with enough money. It is a fintech company that is venture-backed with headquarters in New York. Its area of specialization is making the process of rolling over 401(k) into an IRA less complex.

The site functions as the middleman. Hence, it assists users in transferring abandoned 401(k) accounts from former employers to new IRA accounts, working with well-known investing platforms such as Vanguard, SoFi, and Betterment to help with these rollovers. The way it operates is also distinct, as it provides these services without any fee. Let’s start this Hicapitalize review to uncover more crucial details.

Company History

The story of Hicapitalize.com started with the cooperation between Gaurav Sharma and Chris Phillips, whose finance and technology knowledge formed a company devoted to changing the retirement savings market. Sharma, a veteran of investing at high-profile firms like Greenlight Capital and Highbridge Capital Management, and Phillips, a seasoned executive in the technological divisions and technical strategy development, envisioned a platform that would make retirement saving convenient and effective.

What is Hicapitalize? Since its inception, Hicapitalize.com has focused on addressing many Americans' challenges: transitioning through different employment situations and tracking and managing 401(k) accounts. Research conducted by the company in 2021 unraveled the issue, finding an estimated 24.3 million forgotten 401(k)s, which might lead to a serious problem of retirement savings that could affect individuals.

The company began with basic, clear services designed to find all old 401(k) accounts and then rolled them into IRAs. Over time, the website extended its offerings to include educational products, access to financial experts for consultation, and a full range of comparisons of IRA options based on fees, investment options, and usability.

Is Hicapitalize legit? Sure! The company's main milestones include creating proprietary technology, simplifying the rollover process, establishing relationships with the leading financial institutions for a wide range of IRA solutions, and getting recognition for its groundbreaking approach to retirement savings.

Products and Services

Capitalize stands out among financial technology companies by providing a niche, hassle-free service that streamlines the IRA rollover process for individuals with old 401(k) plans from previous employers. While Capitalize is not a traditional financial service provider, it does not offer its customers brokerage accounts or direct market access. On the contrary, it works as an intermediary, aiding the rollover of 401(k) assets from either old or forgotten accounts to IRAs through networks of partnerships with the most popular investment platforms such as Vanguard, SoFi, and Betterment.

Is Hicapitalize reliable? Yes. The unique selling point of Capitalize is its promise to deliver free service, which involves both the rollover process and consultations with financial advisers. With this approach, you can be certain that the advice given is impartial and free of additional costs, making it a superior option for those pursuing the best ways to maximize their retirement savings.

You will hardly find negative or mixed Hicapitalize reviews and complaints. Moreover, Capitalize builds on the services provided by expanding educational content on retirement savings management and the necessity of rolling over the old 401(k) plans. Also, the platform motivates users with a referral program that gives a reward, which is physical, to the ones who help expand its user base.

Getting Started with Hicapitalize

The 401(k) rollover process with Hicapitalize is designed to be convenient and smooth for the new clients by making it simple to move the retirement funds. This is the step-by-step guide to start this smooth and uncomplicated journey that everyone can use, and that will ensure that every client finds their investment pathway simple and pleasant.

Step 1: Locating 401(k)

Is Hicapitalize a scam? Of course not! The initial stage of the process is to locate where your current 401(k) plan is at. If you know the name of the 401(k) institution you are invested with, you can contact us at Hicapitalize. If that's not the case, then there's no reason to panic. You need to mention the company name, and Hicapitalize will automatically search its database, which is the largest and most in-depth, to find your 401(k) for you.

Step 2: Picking an Account

The next step you need to take once you locate your 401(k) is to choose an appropriate rollover IRA. Hicapitalize streamlines this process with questions that help to understand your investing style, financial objectives, and how your IRA fits in with the rest of your financial plan. The next step is to display a list of custom-made IRA options for you, including their fees, investment choices, and other important features to help you make an informed decision.

Step 3: The Part Where Hicapitalize Comes Into Play

With the account selection made, Hicapitalize releases the heavier part of the work. The platform initiates the transition by contacting your previous 401(k) provider and takes care of all administrative tasks required for a seamless transition. Throughout this period, Hicapitalize remains in contact with you, continues to inform you about the status of your rollover, and instructs you in case of any concerns.

First, Hicapitalize requires new clients to go through the registration process that entails providing basic personal data, details regarding their employment history (such as companies they have had 401(k) accounts with), and their investment objectives. As for the required documents, you should have identification verification, for example, an official ID and possibly other documents related to your current 401(k) plan to make the transition run smoothly. Besides, almost all Hicapitalize reviews are positive!

When choosing a client during the account selection phase, Hicapitalize provides guidance on various investment strategies suitable to the different IRA options the client is presented with. This dialog is useful to ensure that the IRA you choose will match your long-term financial goals and investment preferences. When you have selected an IRA, Hicapitalize will help you with the online account setup. Is Hicapitalize safe? Sure! Hicapitalize's support also involves the organization of transferring your 401(k) assets to your existing or new IRA without any problems.

Conclusion

Hicapitalize.com is now one of the leading fintech firms, and it is especially evident in the area of retirement savings. Instead of the traditional approach of seeking help, its unique approach, which focuses on one-click 401(k) rollovers into IRAs, fills a vital gap and puts the power back into the hands of ‌individuals to control their retirement future.
